Rich Variety In 2019 August Newcastle Music Festival
The Newcastle Music Festival is on again in 2019 from August 6-18, with over 30 concerts to choose from. From opera to swing, children’s concerts to cocktail soirees and masterclasses to sensory experiences, the 2019 festival showcases promises a variety of events featuring a stellar gathering of talent. Pianist Daniel Rojas-Gonzales performs in his trademark Latin style, flautist Sally Walker is joined by soprano Miriam Allan and Christopher Allan, piano, for Twilight Musical Dialogues; you can hear Pacific Opera Young Artist Genevieve Dickson (mezzo-soprano) with pianist and festival co-curator Ross Fiddes, special needs choir Shake, Rattle and Roll, guitar duo Alchemy, the Newcastle University Choir and many other performers.
Newcastle/Lake Macquarie is just 3 hours drive north of Sydney and the second largest city in New South Wales (after Sydney). It has 8 beautiful beaches, a harbour, two major tidal lakes within easy reach for relaxation and water sports, whale watching in season and some great natural attractions. It is 40 minutes from the Hunter Valley which has more than 150 wineries and other agricultural and tourist activities. The city had an industrial reputation based on the steelworks that existed here, but those closed in 1999, and the city has reinvented itself around education and medicine.
