Flare With The Metropolitan Orchestra

The Metropolitan Orchestra’s (TMO) second Met Concert for 2026, Flare, led by Chief Conductor Sarah-Grace Williams, promises a night of dazzling colour and elemental rhythm.
Flare showcases the TMO’s longtime support for talented Australian musicians with a world premiere work from composer Graeme Brown titled Endangered Species. Rimsky-Korsakov’s sparkling Capriccio Espagnol is inspired by Spanish folk melodies and characterized by its brilliant use of orchestral colour to unleash Spanish fire on the audience, while Ravel’s exquisite Pavane offers a moment of poised beauty in this nostalgic and evocative piece, notable for its beautifully moving theme. The concert will blaze with shimmering magic with a performance of Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite, a masterpiece of orchestral brilliance.
