Beethoven’s Ghost National Tour For Musica Viva
April 13 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Musica Viva Australia presents a trio of Australia’s finest chamber musicians, pianist Auro Go, cellist Timo-Veikko (Tipi) Valve and virtuoso violinist Kristian Winther in their debut national tour, Beethoven’s Ghost, opening in Newcastle on Tuesday 5 May and concluding in Perth on Thursday 14 May.
Artistic Director Paul Kildea is delighted to bring together three champions of chamber music performing the world premiere of a new work by Australian composer Melody Eötvös.
Following a debut outing at the UKARIA Cultural Centre in 2025, this piano trio presents two cornerstones of the repertoire; Beethoven’s thrilling ‘Ghost’ Trio, an imaginative drama pitting heroic bravura alongside spooky beauty, and Ravel’s tempestuous Piano Trio, a profound response to the First World War.
Also featured is the world premiere of Regnare by Australian composer Melody Eötvös which takes as its inspiration the life-cycles of the Victorian/Mountain Ash tree, Eucalyptus.
Australian pianist, storyteller and FutureMaker alumna Aura Go as performed as a soloist with the Melbourne, Adelaide and Queensland Symphony Orchestras and Finland’s Tapiola Sinfonietta.
Together with long-term musical collaborator, Principal Cello of the Australian Chamber Orchestra Timo-Veikko (Tipi) Valve, Go has toured both nationally and internationally to Finland. In 2024, the duo’s recording of Beethoven’s complete cello sonatas for ABC Classic debuted to critical acclaim.ve,
Rounding out the triumvirate is virtuoso Australian violinist and Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s 2025 Artist-in-Residence Kristian Winther. A devoted chamber musician and violinist in the Alma Moodie String Quartet, Winther has appeared as a soloist with the Sydney, Melbourne, Queensland, Christchurch and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras and has toured extensively with Go.
Melody Eötvös is a composer in the realms of traditional instrumental music as well as electro-acoustic sound art. She communicates mystery, adventure, and versatility within deeply sophisticated ideas in musical craft, drawing from human experiences and documented discoveries. Commissions in 2025 included orchestral works for the Western Australia Symphony Orchestra and the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, and Flinders Quartet, among others.
