DESCRIPTION:Fire and Rescue NSW Band is turning up the heat for their 3rd annual Charity Concert\, in partnership with Beat the Burn and The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation\, to support the Burns Unit at The Children’s Hospitals at Westmead and Randwick. \nWith award‑winning storyteller Darren Coggan\, powerhouse opera vocalist Viktoria Bolonina\, and the Band led by the dynamic Graeme Press\, this concert promises big energy\, big heart\, and music that will stay with you long after the final note. \nProceeds from this event will go directly to the “Beat The Burn” project\, which started humbly in 2006 when firefighters from FRNSW 020 Station Hurstville embarked on a 400km bike ride from Campbelltown to Wagga Wagga to support kids at The Burns Unit of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. SUMMARY:Horizon Classical presents Rapture & Ruin
DESCRIPTION:Horizon Classical presents Rapture & Ruin — an immersive orchestral evening built around Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2\, performed by Australian pianist Calvin Abdiel with conductor Hans Sangtoki and Horizon Orchestral Studio. \nRapture. Ruin. Release. — Beauty that breaks you. \nThree Russian masters. One evening. Rapture & Ruin traces the emotional arc of the Romantic imagination — from Glinka’s\nexhilarating Overture to Ruslan and Ludmilla and Tchaikovsky’s Fantasy Overture to Romeo and Juliet culminating in Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No 2 written on the other side of failure\, still unmatched for sheer emotional reach. \nHorizon Orchestral Studio is an emerging artistic development platform dedicated to forming conductors\, musicians\, and audiences through orchestral experiences rooted in mentorship\, responsibility\, artistic excellence\, and cultural leadership. Designed to bridge the gap between advanced training and professional practice\, Horizon creates real rehearsal and performance opportunities for emerging conductors while presenting ambitious public performances that invite audiences into the depth\, beauty\, and emotional power of orchestral music. \nCONDUCTOR Hans Sangtoki/ Calvin Abdiel\, piano\nP R O G R A M M E: GLINKA Ruslan and Ludmilla — Overture/ TCHAIKOVSKY Romeo and Juliet — Fantasy Overture/ RACHMANINOFF Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor\, Op. 18 \nRead our review of Horizon Classical’s last concert.
