Bach Akademie Australia Presents The Class of ’85, Chatswood Concert

The chances of three musicians of global significance being born in the same year are infinitesimal. However in 1685, that’s exactly what happened. Domenico Scarlatti, Georg Frideric Handel and Johann Sebastian Bach were The Class of ’85 and their overwhelming and enduring influence on music cannot be overstated.
Madeleine Easton is Artistic Director of the Bach Akademie Australia in this program featuring Handel’s rich Concerto Grosso in B flat major, Op.6 No.7, Domenico Scarlatti’s Salve Regina with mezzo soprano Hannah Fraser, and J.S. Bach’s magnificent secular cantata Non sa che sia dolore BWV 209 with soprano Susannah Lawergren, this program celebrates the supreme craftsmanship, versatility and imagination of these three titans of Western classical music.
