Bach Akademie Australia Solo Sonatas And Partitas – Chatswood

June 18, 2023 @ 2:30 pm

Bach Akademie Australia’s redoubtable Artistic Director Madeleiene Easton returns to the Sydney concert stage with four performances of the mighty Solo Sonatas and Partitas of J.S. Bach, and a selection of Italian, French and German Baroque chamber works in a concerts series called A Universe of One:The Solo Sonatas And Partitas.

Fresh from performing with the English Baroque Soloists at the Coronation of King Charles III, Easton performs this demanding anthology deliving into their mysteries and complexities with flawless technique and a deep appreciation and knowledge of Bach’s music.

In Chatswood on Sunday afternoon 18 June she will play a selection of highlights from the first three concerts  performed over three evenings in Paddington on 15, 16 and 17 June. She explores these works, interspersed with chamber music from other masters of the Baroque, including Scarlatti, Handel and Leclair. She will be joined by an ensemble comprising cellist Anthea Cottee, flautist Mikaela Oberg, harpsichordist Nathan Cox and cellist John Ma.

“These six works represent the undisputed pinnacle of composition for solo violin, inspiring absolute wonderment, delight, joy and deep contemplation in all who have them in their lives,” says Madeleine. “Every one of the 6 pieces contains every conceivable emotion, representing all aspects of the human condition.”
