Bach Akademie Australia Steps Inside The Mind Of A Genius

June 21 @ 7:30 pm - June 23 @ 2:30 pm

Join Bach Akademie Australia orchestra and choir for two Sydney concerts (Paddington on 21 June and Chatswood 23 June) in their series titled Bach – the Mind of a Genius.

Delving into what defines a ‘genius’ the Bach Akademie Australia outlines the genius of J S Bach as one who had exceptional intellectual and creative power, a statement that applies to many a great composer. However, even amongst geniuses, Bach stands above the rest. No one before or since reached his level of excellence or output. His contributions to the art of music far outweigh those of his predecessors and successors, resulting in him almost single-handedly developing Western music to its peak.

The music ranges from the simplicity of the Prelude and Fugue No. 1 in C major from Das wohltemperierte Klavier BWV 846 to the complexity of the Art of Fugue.

This is an eclectic program featuring Bach’s music for voice, keyboard, violin and ensemble performed by luminaries including Neal Peres Da Costa, Madeleine Easton and soprano Bonnie de la Hunty,

The Program:
J.S. Bach Prelude and Fugue No. 1 in C major from Das wohltemperierte Klavier BWV 846 Soloist Neal Peres Da Costa
J.S. Bach Sonata sopr’il soggetto Real from Das Musikalische Opfer BWV 1079
