Bach’s Lost Passion On Australian Digital Concert Hall

March 30 @ 2:00 pm

The Australian Boys Choral Institute returns to the Australian Digital Concert Hall with a stirring performance that unites three outstanding ensembles for the Australian premiere of Robert Koolstra’s reconstruction of J S Bach’s long-lost 1744 version of the St. Mark Passion BWV 247.

The Australian Boys Choir and The Vocal Consort join forces with Melbourne’s renowned period instrument orchestra, Genesis Baroque in this moving retelling of the Passion story, blending historical insight with vivid musical storytelling, promising a deeply emotional journey for both performers and audience.

Koolstra’s reconstruction breathes new life into this rarely heard work, combining the beauty of Baroque performance with a striking contemporary resonance. With only two performances, one in Ballarat and the other in Melbourne, this is an opportunity to witness a landmark moment in Australian choral music, streamed live on the Australian Digital Concert Hall.
