Bernstein and Busoni From Endangered Productions

November 28 @ 7:00 pm - December 7 @ 3:00 pm

Celebrated operatic couple. soprano Cheryl Barker AO and baritone Peter Coleman-Wright AO, play out the perfect marriage in Leonard Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti but behind the glossy veneer of American suburbia, lurks their loneliness and longings.

Trouble in Tahiti leads a high-energy Endangered Productions double bill, Bernstein and Busoni, alongside Ferruccio Busoni’s whirlwind opera, Arlecchino, reviving Italy’s traditional mischievous clown, Harlequin with a modern twist on his compulsive womanising and deceits.

Artistic Director of both productions is Christine Logan, with Music Director Peter Alexander as music director, a fourteen-piece orchestra and a satirical vocal trio.

Barker and Coleman-Wright have a string of global appearances to their names, and have been community theatre fans since they met as young teens playing opposite each other in The Boyfriend. They’re still battling or swooning over each other in productions for a variety of companies, including Opera Australia. Their credits include Kiss Me Kate, Tosca, Don Giovanni, Il Tabarro, Arabella and Onegin. They are also Co-Artistic Directors of Pacific Opera Studio which mentors and trains rising opera singers.
