From Lament to Light – Together in Song
March 8 @ 3:00 pm

The Opera and Song Collective (TOSC) presents From Lament to Light – Together in Song, an afternoon concert of choral and vocal masterworks that traces a profound musical journey from grief and reflection toward hope and radiance.
Under the baton of well-known maestro Simon Kenway, with pianist Stephen Walter, this evocative programme moves through centuries of luminous sacred and secular repertoire. Beginning with the intimate laments of Monteverdi and Purcell, the concert unfolds through the shimmering textures of Schubert’s Nachthelle, Schumann’s Das Paradies und die Peri, Hahn’s French-language Madrigal – “Pleurez avec moi”, and selections from Mendelssohn’s Elijah, before culminating in the consoling beauty of Fauré’s Requiem and Sir Arthur Sullivan’s The Long Day Closes.
Presented in the beautiful acoustic of St Luke’s Anglican Church, Mosman, this afternoon performance invites audiences into shared listening — a space for reflection, connection and renewal. As communities continue to navigate a complex and fragile world, From Lament to Light offers music that acknowledges sorrow while gently guiding us toward solace and collective strength.
TOSC brings together professional and emerging artists passionate about fine music and meaningful performance. The ensemble is known for its thoughtful programming, educational engagement and commitment to creating concerts that are both artistically refined and deeply human.
Join TOSC for an afternoon of beauty, contemplation and light — and stay to connect over refreshments in the courtyard.
