Goldner String Quartet Joins Selby & Friends In Farewell Luminaries Tour

May 16 @ 7:00 pm

Selby & Friends warmly welcomes the illustrious Goldner String Quartet for its May concert tour, Luminaries. They will perform three concerts in NSW, one in Sydney at the City Recital Hall, one in Turramurra and one in Bowral (details below).

From May 11th to May 19th, Artistic Director and Pianist Kathryn Selby and the Goldner String Quartet perform together in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide, the NSW Southern Highlands, and Turramurra on a seven-concert tour.

Luminaries features the internationally acclaimed, award-winning Goldner String Quartet in its farewell performance season. One of Australia’s pre-eminent string quartets, ranking amongst the best in the world, the Goldner String Quartet has maintained the same 4 members (two married couples) throughout its 30 years of existence. Although Kathryn Selby has worked many times with the individual members of the quartet over the decades, this is the first time in 18 seasons  that the Goldner String Quartet is collaborating with Selby & Friends.

One of the greatest piano quintets of all time, the Shostakovich Piano Quintet in G minor, is at the core of this concert program, with Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 12 in A Major in the composer’s own arrangement for piano and string quartet, and the passionate and powerful Tchaikovsky String Quartet No. 1 in D.
