IFAC Handa Australian Singing Competition Semi-Finals Concert

The IFAC Handa Australian Singing Competition returns with the semi-finals public concert when ten emerging young singers will vie for a place in the finals. Five finalists will be selected to proceed to the Masterclass (12:00 Monday 29 August at The Church, Alexandria) and the Finals Concert (7:00pm Saturday 1 October at The Concourse, Chatswood).

The semi-finalists are sopranos Olivia Oxley, 25, Younji Yi, 26 and Lily Ward, 22 from NSW and Billie Tumarkin, 25 from VIC; mezzo-sopranos Kristin Astouroghlian, 27 from VIC and Cassandra Doyle, 21 from NSW; baritones Jeremy Boulton, 23 and Daniel Ott, 24 from NSW and Tom Nicholson, 22 from QLD and bass Jake Bigwood 26 from WA.

The 2022 adjudication panel comprises Graham Pushee, acclaimed counter-tenor and Managing Director of Arts-finals Management, Cheryl Barker AO, distinguished soprano and Head Voice Teacher at the Australian National University School of Music, Brian Castles-Onion AM, celebrated international opera conductor, Michael Halliwell, Associate Professor of Vocal and Opera Studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and Noƫmi Terracini-Nadelmann, opera and concert soprano and Voice Teacher

While the panel reaches its decisions, the audience will be entertained by guitarist Andrew Blanch..
