Juan Diego Flórez Tours Australia

December 1 @ 8:00 pm

Superstar tenor Juan Diego Flórez will return to Australia in November following his thrilling debut at the Sydney Opera House in 2023. He will perform in Sydney (1 December), Melbourne (29 November), and then perform for the first time in Adelaide (3 December). Accompanied by the esteemed Vincenzo Scalera at the piano, these recitals will include music by Rossini, Donizetti, Gounod, Verdi and more.

One of the finest opera singers of our time, Juan Diego Flórez has a global career across the stages of New York, London and Europe and in the studio. Born in Lima, Peru in 1973, he is especially known for his interpretation of bel canto roles. A naturally gifted singer, Flórez was lead singer and songwriter of his own rock band, prior to his operatic career, while also performing Peruvian folk music and pop with his guitar. As a teenager, he sang in a pub where his mother worked in the Miraflores district of Lima.

In 2011, Flórez founded Sinfonía por el Perú, an inclusive social project that operates orchestras and choirs throughout Peru to help the most vulnerable children and adolescents through music. In recognition of the foundation’s work, he was named a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and received the World Economic Forum’s Crystal Award.

Tickets will go on sale today, Friday 28 February via Arts Centre Melbourne, Sydney Opera House and Adelaide Festival Centre websites.
