Live At The Great Presents Eights Seasons: Vivaldi vs Piazzolla

June 27, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - June 28, 2023 @ 7:00 pm

Live at The Great presents Eight Seasons Vivaldi vs Piazolla featuring violinist Kristian Winther and didgeridoo player Gumaroy Newman in a lively and diverse program.

Vivaldi’s Four Seasons will sound as if nature herself was out on the town; be transported through dreamtime storytelling and the Australian seasons by an Aboriginal elder accompanied by traditional song man Gumaroy Newman playing the yidaki (didgeridoo); revel in the exotic Latin seasons from Argentina’s rebel composer Astor Piazzolla. Kristian Winther leads his hotshot octet and harpsichordist Anthony Hamad in a collision of wildly contrasting seasons.

Bookings

Eight Seasons is the third of five concerts being held throughout 2023 at Sydney’s Great Synagogue in Elizabeth Street.
It offers the rare opportunity to visit The Great Synagogue with its beautiful acoustics and lighting, while enjoying concerts by world-class musicians. Behind Live at the Great is renowned conductor and pianist Vladimir Fanshil, who with his wife opera singer Eleanor Lyons, founded Live at Yours, to keep music ‘live’ through the Covid pandemic, eschewing the move to virtual and online performances,. They have since expanded to work with other new and unusual venues.
