Teodor Doré Performs Rachmaninoff Variations
September 9, 2025 @ 7:00 pm

Teodor Doré, pianist and composer makes his Sydney Opera House debut with his program Rachmaninoff Variations alongside his own compositions.
Crimean-born and London-based, Doré premiered the Rachmaninoff Variations at Carnegie Hall last January and now performs them for Australian audiences for the first time. It is a bold and deeply personal reimagining of Rachmaninoff’s music, praised internationally for its emotional power and originality.
Doré is the first musician authorised by the Rachmaninoff family to orchestrate the composer’s long-lost Suite in D minor, a four-movement orchestral work composed in 1891, lost for more than a century, and rediscovered in 2001. While the orchestral premiere will take place later this year in Europe, the Sydney recital will provide audiences with a rare insight into the creative process and vision behind this historic project. This program of solo piano transcriptions of Rachmaninoff’s works (as a prologue of the piano trio program) will be performed alongside his own compositions. Doré’s album Rachmaninoff Variations recorded at Abbey Road Studios continues to receive international acclaim.
