The Tallis Scholars Return
October 12 @ 5:00 pm

Elite British vocal ensemble The Tallis Scholars under founding Artistic Director Peter Phillips, return to the Sydney Opera House after 25 years, presenting a transcendent program inspired by the timeless beauty of Gregorian chant.
The program will journey through the visionary chants of 12th-century abbess Hildegard von Bingen and the shimmering polyphony of Renaissance masters to the minimalism of Arvo Pärt’s hypnotic Da Pacem.
You will hear Allegri’s soul-stirring Miserere, Flemish composer Jacob Obrecht’s iconic Salve Regina and Josquin des Prez’s Renaissance masterpiece Praeter rerum seriem.
Founded in 1973 by Peter Phillips, the ensemble is renowned for its pure, exquisite a cappella performances and pioneering role in the early music revival, with a lasting influence on the global movement of sacred choral music from medieval to contemporary.
