Thoroughbass Travels To Remote Places

October 1, 2022 @ 3:00 pm

Thoroughbass invites you to Remote Places, a concert which takes a musical tour to some far-flung places, visiting the magical Lake Argyle in the Kimberleys of Western Australia in Moonrise over Lake Argyle, dancing a solitary tango in the outback town of Broken Hill in The Royal Exchange, and to holiday in the Mediterranean in Six Greek Dances, as well as much else in music that soars with melody.

Experience Remote Places through the eyes, ears and imagination of some of our most revered composers – Ross Edwards, Andrew Ford, Diana Blom, Ann Carr-Boyd and Philip Bolliger.

Two of the works, Outback River for 2 cellos and harpsichord and Moonrise over Lake Argyle for piano and harpsichord, both by Ann Carr-Boyd are receiving their premieres at this concert. In addition, Throughbass artisitic director Diana Weston’s poem The Royal Exchange is now set to music in a song by Diana Blom.

The performers: Lucy Cormack and Angus Ryan, cellos, Mary Sambell piano, Diana Weston harpsichord and piano and Hester Wilson voice.
