MOMENTUM Plus Offers Recording Opportunities
The Australian Music Centre (AMC) and Music Australia proudly announce a major initiative, the MOMENTUM Plus program which seeks to perpetuate contemporary Australian orchestral music in recordings. The program also addresses a key need to commercialise the music of original orchestral pieces composed within the last five years.
The MOMENTUM Plus program will record a work, or an excerpt of a work, by five living Australian composers, which have never previously been recorded, offering composers the opportunity to access the forces of an orchestra beyond traditional and highly competitive pathways.
Submissions to the MOMENTUM Plus call for works may be entered online.
Submissions close on Tuesday 6 May, 5pm AEST. MOMENTUM Plus is open to AMC represented artists only. Associate Artist representation may be attained by application through the AMC.
MOMENTUM Plus will give selected composers full copyright ownership of the audio recording of their work, allowing them to leverage their composition to create new opportunities, such as commercial release, pitching for live performances, and future commissions. In a new industry partnership, the AMC will deliver the program in collaboration with Trackdown Studios, Australia’s premier scoring stage and post-production facility. This partnership will provide composers’ access to world-class musicians and an award-winning team in the recording of their works.
The Australian Music Centre (AMC) is the national service organisation dedicated to the promotion and support of both the art form of music and the creators and performers of contemporary classical, improvised jazz, experimental music and sound art in Australia. The Australian Music Centre celebrates fifty years in 2025.
