Sydney Eisteddfod McDonald’s Operatic Aria Competition
Eight of the most promising young singers from all over Australasia will perform in the final round of the Sydney Eisteddfod McDonald’s Operatic Aria competition, accompanied by the North Sydney Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Steven Hillinger.
One of the most coveted awards for young opera singers, this title has launched the careers of numerous Australian opera singers since it began in 1933. This event launched the career of Dame Joan Sutherland in 1949, and 82 years on, its winners and finalists continue to enrich world opera.
