Sydney Chamber Choir: Creativity + Loss

Sydney Chamber Choir’s up and coming Alumni concert, Creativity + Loss explores the ambiguous relationship between these two opposing concepts – music written in response to grief. Brahms’ German Requiem will be performed in a version arranged by himself for accompaniment by piano duet.

Conducted by Nicholas Routley, the programme includes the motet Ave Regina Caelorum by the early Renaissance master composer Guillaume Dufay, a natural fit with Brahms’ Requiem. Creativity + Loss will also feature the world premiere of Above The Water, a newly commissioned work by Australian composer Clare Maclean.

The programme:

Clare Maclean- Above The Water (World Premiere)
Dufay –Ave Regina caelorum
Ockeghem-Salve Regina
Josquin des Prez –Veni Sancte Spiritus
Ligeti- Lux aeterna
Brahms- A German Requiem
(version for choir and two pianos)

Tickets from $50 (concession $40)
