ArtSong NSW returns in 2013

A year after the untimely death of soprano Amanda Thane, ARTSONG NSW, the organisation she founded in 2009 and of which she was Artistic Director, keeps her legacy alive with new leadership and a new venue.

Under the direction of its new President, Andrew Greene, and Vice-President, John Martin, the concerts will be held in the splendid surroundings and acoustic of the Independent Theatre in North Sydney.

In its short history, ARTSONG NSW  has presented over 30 concerts and masterclasses, developing the art of the song recital and giving emerging professional singers the opportunity to perform their repertoire in the presence of a supportive but savvy audience.

In their June concert, ARTSONG NSW presents soprano Lorina Gore, countertenor Tobias Cole, tenor Sam Roberts-Smith and baritone Samuel Dundas, with Andrew Greene himself as pianist. They have in store an anthology of some of the most loved songs through the years, from the works of Schubert, Brahms, Dvorak, Poulenc, Vaughan Williams, Grainger, Elgar, Mendelssohn, Poulenc and Delibes. Songs include Schubert’s eery and dramatic masterpiece The Erl King, Brahms’ Lullaby,  Dvorak’s heartfelt Songs my Mother Taught Me, The Girls of Cadiz, the traditional Irish ballad O Danny Boy, Les Chemins de l’Amour, On Wings of Song and Elgar’s patriotic Land of Hope and Glory.

Tickets: $38/$30. Light refreshments may be purchased at the bar before and after the concert.
