ABC Classic will broadcast the Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra’s Mannheim Rocket concert from May 2019, on Monday 20 April at 1.00pm (AEST).  Led from the violin by co-artistic director Rachael Beesley, on Monday 20 April at 1.00pm (AEST), the concert was recorded live in concert at City Recital Hall.

In the late-18th century, the German city of Mannheim was a centre of art, music and science. The new symphonic style of composers Stamitz and Richter was a great influence on the young Mozart, as was the quality of the Mannheim Orchestra. The program culminates in Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 in G minor, a symphony which makes the most of the famous Mannheim Rocket effect.

PROGRAM
Johann Stamitz Sinfonia à Quattro in A Major
Franz Xaver Richter Sinfonia à Quattro in B-flat Major
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Symphony No. 40 in G Minor, KV550
