West Side Story – one one of the greatest musicals of all time, comes to the Zenith Theatre in Chatswood this November, presented by Chatswood Musical Society.

Based on Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet and featuring the sublime meeting of Stephen Sondheim’s brilliant lyrics and Leonard Bernstein’s extraordinary score, West Side Story places star crossed-lovers Tony and Maria squarely at the centre of a New York City gang war.

The world’s greatest love story takes to the streets in this landmark Broadway musical that is one of the theatre’s finest accomplishments. The two young, idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the established “American” Jets and the immigrant Puerto Rican Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas of our time.
