The Art Gallery Society of New South Wales presents its Resonate concert series with eight performances between March and November 2014.

Notching up its 14th year of concerts, the Art Gallery Society invites you to view the diverse progamme of exhibitions before each concert – ArtExpress, Afghanistan, the Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes and Pop to Popism will be followed by music of great beauty and power.

The May concert features Tyran Parke in a programme called  Children and Art.

Tyran Parke is one of Australia’s most celebrated, award-winning cabaret performers and has created an evening of song specially crafted for the beautiful setting of the Art Gallery. Children and Art will be a humorous and touching evening of cabaret exploring these two themes and the desire to leave a legacy through the music of contemporary writers, Broadway’s Kander and Ebb, Stephen Schwartz, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Stephen Sondheim.

As well, Tyran will premiere Compositions. Taking inspiration from the award-winning photography of his brother Trent Parke, Tyran approached some of the world’s best cabaret composers inviting them to choose an image and write a song especially for him to sing. The results are a unique blend of song and art which finds a home most fittingly in Children and Art.

The concert will be preceded by a champagne reception and private viewing of  ‘Afghanistan: hidden treasures from the National Museum, Kabul.’

The Art Gallery Society has generously extended member’s rate to readers of SoundsLikeSydney. Please quote ‘Partner Promotions’ when booking on line, in person or on the telephone.
