Eisteddfod successes for SLS friends

Congratulations to SoundsLikeSydney’s friends who have won placings in the 2011 Sydney Eisteddfod!

Edmond Choo was placed first in the 21-28 year Male Voices category, as was Morgan Pearse in the Lieder section in the same age group.

Pearse won numerous other placings, winning second place in the French Song, Australian Art Song and Male Voices categories for his age, and third place in the Open Age French and German Art Songs category. He can’t rest on his laurels though – he is also in contention for two major scholarships, having made it to the finals of the Opera and Arts Support Group Vocal Scholarship and the Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge Vocal Scholarship, the finals of which will be on August 21st in Burwood.

Mezzo-soprano Amanda Wagg and soprano Erika Simons were winners of the Open Age Operatic Duets/Trios/Quartets section, and soprano Julia Wee was placed second in the over 25s Lieder competition.

Well done all!!
