An Evening with Stephanie McCallum

November 26, 2022 @ 7:00 pm

New Preludes and Old Sketches: An Evening with Stephanie McCallum is a free recital starring one of Australia’s musical luminaries. Concert pianist  premieres a new set of Preludes by the award winning Australian composer Aristea Mellos, and revisits her long-held passion for the works of the reclusive French Romantic composer Charles-Valentin Alkan. In a recent interview with ABC Classic, McCallum stated that “…the appeal of Alkan lies in the strangeness of his personality as well as his musical genius. Busoni placed him as one of the five great 19th Century composers for piano along with Chopin, Liszt, Schumann and Brahms…”

The event will be chaired by the renowned Australian music advocate John Davis (CEO of the Australian Music Centre 1995 – 2021).
