Jacqueline Dark Sings Again

March 17, 2023 @ 7:00 pm

Jacqueline Dark is back with a brand new cabaret show after a recent brush with ill-health. Entitled “Songs My Friends Taught Me” and produced with her music directot Darly Wallis and creative director Sam Russell, the 75 minute show is dedicated to and about the friends who helped her through he challenges of the past year.

The irrepressible star of opera, music theatre and cabaret says  “It was my friends who got me through the hardship and I want to write a show about them and all the different kinds of friendships – anecdotes, songs that remind me of them or songs that we have sung together.” The show will include songs written by Dark, covers, and mash-ups which she promises will be “crazy and hilarious.”

Dark’s notable roles include Herodias in Salome for Opera Australia, Fricka for their production of The Ring Cycle in 2013, Marcellina, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Annina in Der Rosenkavalier and Venus in The Loves of Apollo and Dafne for Pinchgut Opera. Add to that her hit cabaret shows like Strange Bedfellows, the songs of Jacques Brel and a hugely successful 12-month national tour as the Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music, and it is not hard to understand why she has gathered both Helpmann and Green Room Awards for her work.
