Lunar New Year Gala Concert

The Lunar New Year Concert 2023 celebrates the Chinese Lunar New Year with lavish orchestral music and singing.
Conducted by conductor and composer George Ellis, the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra will perform with the popular Australian Chinese soloists including popular soprano Cathy-Di Zhang, baritone Haotian Qi, Peking opera singer Yan Wu, Erhu Tuqiang Zhang, and his Sydney Chinese Music Ensemble.
The concert features Chinese and Western classical music such as Spring Festival Overture, a joyful exuberant piece composed by Huanzhi Li, Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite ‘Trepak’, Brahms’ Hungarian Dances no.1 and no.5, Swan Goose by Qi Dalengtai and a line-up of other enchanting classics from the east and the west.
With artistic support from China National Opera & Dance Drama Theatre, the concert is proudly presented by Ausfeng Events associated with the Oz-Sino Association for Advancement of Culture and Arts, and sponsored by NSW Multiculture and Wentworth Institute.
The concert is one of Sydney’s largest Lunar New Year celebrations in the year of the rabbit.
