Opera Australia Chorus In Concert

The Opera Australia Chorus of 48 voices performs Chorus!, a selection of popular choruses from opera, by the legendary composers of opera, including Verdi, Puccini, Wagner and Tchaikovsky. Director Matthew Barclay and Chorus Master Paul Fitzsimon thread a compelling narrative through the masterworks of the eras from Rigoletto’s urgent Zitti, zitti, moviamo a vendetta to the sacred incantations of Beglückt darf nun (Pilgrim’s Chorus) in Tannhäuser, Pagliacci’s Bell Chorus and Madama Butterfly’s poignant Humming Chorus. 

The Opera Australia Chorus has long been the backbone of the company’s productions and is rarely showcased in its own right. In these concerts, the glorious voices of the Opera Australia Chorus will power its way through five performances, singing in the multiple languages of opera, with English surtitles, acompanied by pianists Michael Curtain and Kate Johnson.
