Five Finalists Contest “The Mathy” 2018

Five outstanding singers will perform in a Gala Concert as they compete for Australasia’s most coveted award for opera and classical singing, the Marianne Mathy Scholarship (‘The Mathy’). They are baritone Tristan Entwistle, 24, from New South Wales, sopranos Zoe Drummond, 25 and Cleo Lee-McGowan, 23, both from Victoria and New Zealand sopranos Katherine McIndoe, 24 and Pasquale Orchard, 21. THe will perform with the Opera Australia Orchestra conducted by Nicholas Milton AM.

Congratulations to also to Xenia Puskarz Thomas who won the Tinkler Encouragement Award for a singer of significant potential. The Semi-Finals Concert was held at the Eugene Goossens Hall in Ultimo on Saturday 11 August before an enthusiastic audience. Each  singer performed a lied and an aria accompanied by our collaborative artist, David Harper, who has been with us for the past 12 years.
