Inessa Galante To Perform In Sydney

The celebrated Latvian soprano Inessa Galante is to perform in Sydney with pianist Roland Peelman in November, presenting a substantial solo recital.

Long established as the prima donna assoluta of Latvian opera, her early professional engagements were at the Kirov Opera where she worked with conductor Valery Gergiev. Her international career blossomed after the fall of the Iron Curtain, leading the way to engagements with major opera houses in Europe and the USA. Other conductors with whom she has worked include Menuhin, Mehta and Pappano; her roles are many, amongst them, Olympia, Gilda, Pamina, Micaela and Lucia.

It is Galante who revived the now popular Ave Maria, attributed to the 16th century composer Giulio Caccini, by including it in her album Debut which became an international best-seller.
