The Independent Theatre presents Prelude in Tea – Song Series featuring the young artists from Pacific Opera, performing a special Mothers’ Day concert offering you the chance to hear the future stars of  Australian opera as they delight with an afternoon of opera and song from stage and screen.

Featuring music from the past 300 years, the concert includes many beloved arias and ensembles as well as a few surprises. Highlights include the grandest and most swoon-worthy moments from well-known operas as well as popular Italian, French and English art songs and arias, all curated and directed by Simon Kenway, Artistic Director of Pacific Opera.

Like all Prelude in Tea concerts, the ticket price includes a delectable afternoon tea before the concert.

Pacific Opera is the Young Artists’ opera company, cultivating the next generation of Australian talent. It produces fresh, vibrant opera with a twist, providing a platform for the stars of tomorrow. Pacific Opera supports young singers through a program of education comprising artistic training, performance opportunities and professional skills development.

The company was established in 2003 with former Opera Australia principal, Christine Douglas, as Artistic Director and a board of prominent business and professional people.  In its 13 years of operation, Pacific Opera has established an important position in the Australian opera landscape.
