Music and Maggie Beer

 

Singing Bird Productions brings more fascinating insights into the music favourites of Sydney personalities with Maggie Beer the guest in their September presentation.

The cook, food writer, creator of food products and restaurateur has selected some classics from opera for the evening, amongst them Delibes’ Sous le dôme épais  (The Flower Duet) from Lakme, Au fond du temple saint (In the Depthe of the Temple) from The Pearl Fishers by Bizet, Gershwin’s Summertime from Porgy and Bess, Can’t Help Lovin’ that Man of Mine by Kern and Hammerstein from the musical Showboat, and Satie’s Gymnopedie No 1.

The ABC’s Emma Ayres will talk to Maggie about her selections which will be brought to life in context by an ensemble of artists including sopranos Elli Green and Angela Lewis, mezzo-soprano Emily Edmonds, tenor Kaine Hayward, baritone Paul Smith, clarinettist Ian Sykes, and pianist Julia de Plater.

Doors open @ 730pm for a pre concert sparkling from Ballabourneen Wine Co.
