PLC Sydney Chamber Choir wins Australian Choral Grand Prix

The winner of the inaugural Sydney Eisteddfod Australian Choral Grand Prix has been decided!

Congratulations to winners The PLC Sydney Chamber Choir (Presbyterian Ladies’ College) on their magnificent victory.  Conducted by Fiona Clouston and accompanied by Andrew Basile, along with a student string quartet, this choir gave a magnificent performance and at the end of the night claimed the $10,000 first prize.

Applause to Fort Street High School Chamber Choir who finished in second place and not only received $5,000, but also an additional $1,000 prize for the Best Performance of an Australian composition with their rendition of a work by local composer Daniel Brinsmead.

Waitara Voices from Waitara Public School finished in third place and also claimed the $1,000 Audience Vote award after touching all hearts with their sincere performance of Peter Allen’s I Still Call Australia Home.

The three other finalists, the Shine Chorus, Soulfood and The King’s School Preparatory School Chamber Choir received $1,000 each, along with glowing reports from their judges.
