River City Voices is a brand new choir  based in Parramatta which celebrates its historic inaugural performance with Carl Orff’s massive choral piece Carmina Burana, featuring soprano Ayşe Göknur Shanal, baritone Simon Lobelson, tenor Warren Fisher, the Senior Choral (OLMC) and pianists Su Choung and Anthony Chen, with percussion, led by Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Dr Sarah Penicka-Smith.  It is also the premiere performance of this piece in Parramatta.

This concert represents the culmination of a community participatory event, which will see over 100 professional, community and school musicians and singers join forces over an intensive, rewarding and fun weekend, to rehearse and perform this blockbuster choral work.

River City Voices’ artistic vision is to become a permanent player in the diverse musical and cultural landscape of western Sydney through presenting exemplary choral performances that reflect, engage and enrich the unique Western Sydney community.  Consultation conducted by the City of Parramatta for its CBD Cultural Plan 2017-2022 identified that residents, workers and businesses “want to see Parramatta go to the next level” and “fulfill cultural needs without the need to travel elsewhere”.
