‘Saints and Sinners’ with Fiona Campbell at the Art Gallery

Fiona Campbell

Mezzo-soprano Fiona Campbell performs with pianist Jean-Marie Bernard and special guest viola player Nicole Divall, in a recital for the  Resonate series presented by the Art Gallery Society of NSW.

She has compiled an intriguing programme called “Saints & Sinners” which pairs the sublime with the diabolical, moving from songs of great spiritual beauty by Brahms and Copland, Handel and Schubert, to seduction by the ultimate bad girls of opera – Carmen and Delilah – and finally, to the darkly comical world of cabaret with songs by Tom Lehrer and Cole Porter.

Fiona Campbell is in strong demand both on the concert stage and in opera for her versatility, dramatic portrayals and exquisite singing. She has several CDs to her credit including her latest, Love+ Loss, also her first solo CD.

Jean-Bernard Marie

Pianist Jean-Bernard Marie was born in Mauritius. He grew up in Australia travelling extensively as his career took him to major concert halls abroad, amongst them, the Wigmore Hall, the Royal Albert Hall, the Salle Pleyel, the Salle Cortot and Carnegie Hall. Jean-Bernard Marie along with poet David Malouf, captivated audiences in last month’s Resonate concert with a presentation of Music & Poetry in performance.

Nicole Divall

Nicole Divall is one of Australia’s most proficient viola players. She is a core member of the Australian Chamber Orchestra having held positions across many international orchestras. After graduating from the Canbera School of Music she undertook post-graduate studies in the US and performed extensively with large and small ensembles across North America.
