Selby & Friends At Home With Tchaikovsky

Ilya Konovalov

Selby&Friends At Home have added another gem to their You Tube channel.

In September 2013, Selby & Friends received a visit from the Concertmaster of the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra, Ilya Konovalov. Ilya came for a tour which included an extraordinary performance of Beethoven’s great Kreutzer Sonata.

In this video, Ilya perfoms with pianist and founding artistic director of Selby & Friends, Kathryn Selby, live in concert, performing two famous works for virtuoso violin by Tchaikovsky from the same program – the Valse-Scherzo, Op.34 and Mélodie in E-flat Major Op. 42 No.3 from Souvenir d’un lieu cher, a work Tchaikovsky composed whilst spending time on the estate, Brailov, belonging to his patroness Nadejda von Meck.
