Seminal works for unaccompanied voice

Soprano Ellen Winhall presents the first of her recitals in series of classic works for unaccompanied voice. Called  Recitation I, this is the first concert in Sydney and indeed, in Australia, for the recently arrived British born soprano.

Exploring how the voice can be used as a flexible instrument, the programme includes seminal works, amongst them, Luciano Berio’s famous Sequenza III, a selection of Aperghis’ theatrical Recitations,  Judith Weir’s King Harald’s Saga: a ‘grand-scale opera for solo voice’, and works by John Cage, Elisabeth Lutyens, and Oliver Knussen.
