SUtherland Bonynge foundation gala – and an exquisite oil portrait to be won
An exquisite oil on canvas portrait of the late Dame Joan Sutherland has been donated by her husband Richard Bonynge to the Dame Joan Sutherland Richard Bonynge Opera Foundation, to be auctioned at the foundation’s gala dinner on Thursday September 15th. The portrait dates fromm the 1970s and has never been seen in public, having only ever been hung in the family’s Sydney home. It bears the signature ‘W J Rowden’. There will be two other items belonging to Dame Joan for silent auction as well as a swag of other covetables.
HE Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, Governor of NSW and Maestro Bonynge will be the guests of honour with all proceeds go to the foundation’s Bel Canto Awards. Soprano Emma Matthews will perform with pianist Kate Golla
