Sydney Art Quartet Performs With Guest Artist Erin Helyard
The Sydney Art Quartet announces Blind Trust, a concert for a blindfolded audience performed by the quartet with guest artist Erin Helyard.
In Blind Trust, audiences will be handed blindfolds upon entry to the darkened performance space and invited to immerse themselves in keyboard concertos by Mozart and J S Bach with an extra level of intensity.
Sydney audiences would know Erin Helyard as Artistic Director and co-founder of the celebrated Pinchgut Opera, for which he has conducted over 20 individual productions in Australia, Canada & New Zealand. Operas under Erin’s direction have been awarded Best Opera at the Helpmann Awards for three consecutive years (2015-2017) and in 2017 he was awarded a Helpmann for Best Music Direction for Handel’s Saul at the Adelaide Festival. Erin’s incredible musical gifts are rooted in his superb skills on historic keyboards and eminent scholarship.
“The Yellow House has the proportions of an 18th century drawing-room – the kind of vibrant acoustic Mozart and Bach had in mind when writing these concertos”, he says.
The Sydney Art Quartet has created over 40 collaborations at the historic Yellow House Potts Point as part of their 3 year artistic residency. With numbers limited to just 70 people per performance, seats will be strictly limited.
