The Sydney Symphony Orchestra (SSO) Fellows takes to the stage with the performance, Intimate Voices, in a relaxing afternoon of chamber music under the Artistic Direction of Roger Benedict.

Intimate Voices will explore the intimate, conversational nature of chamber music, inspired by Sibelius’ string quartet masterpiece. The program highlights the skill and passion of some of the country’s brightest young musicians as the concert will feature 12 of the 2018 SSO Fellows on strings, winds, brass and percussion.

The program will include Nielsen’s Wind Quintet in three movements; Andre Jolivet’s virtuosic trumpet and percussion piece Heptade; two works by Arvo Pärt – Pari Intervallo for clarinet, trombone and strings, and a hauntingly beautiful interpretation of Psalm 137 for trombone and chamber orchestra; and Sibelius’ Intimate Voices, played by string quartet.

Prior to the performance, ticket holders can enjoy a cider tasting hosted by Blue Mountains supplier Hillbilly Cider. Each ticket purchased will include a free cider from the range – alcoholic and non-alcoholic options available.

Amongst the world’s leading orchestral training programs, the SSO Fellowship has doubled in size in recent years and in 2018 welcomes 13 Fellows on strings, winds, brass, and percussion. These exceptional young musicians have been selected through a national audition process to participate in an intensive year-long program of mentoring, performances, workshops, and immersion in the world of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Fellowship alumni can be found in concert halls around the world including 12 past Fellows who now hold permanent positions with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
