The Idea Of North back at the Blue Beat

L-R: Andrew Piper, Sally Cameron, Naomi Crellin and Nick Begbie

A capella vocal ensemble The Idea of North is back at the Blue Beat Bar and Grill in Double Bay in September with Soiree. Describing their first concert there in March as ” an absolute cracker” Soiree brings their latest tunes and arrangements to this new  and  increasingly popular Sydney venue.

For Soiree, alto Joy Hague, who has been covering Naomi Crellin’s maternity leave, will join Naomi, soprano Sally Cameron, tenor Nick Begbie and bass Andrew Piper  for some five part splendour.  As Naomi returns to the group full time in October, this could be the last quintet opportunity for a while.

Shortly afterwards, TION which won the 2010 ARIA Award for Best Jazz Album “Feels Like Spring”,  travels to Sweden to take part in the fourth bi-ennial Lund Choral festival.

Offering easy parking and a variety of dishes from tapas to substantial grills, seafood or just a late night cocktail, the Blue Beat is a welcome option in Sydney’s Eastern suburbs.
