The Organ Recital
The Sydney Consort extends a welcome to all music lovers for its new music series – The Organ Recital.
For many years, this early music group has been the ensemble-in-residence at St Augustine’s Catholic Church in Balmain. This new series offers Sydney audiences the opportunity to explore the beauty of the church’s historical pipe organ (William Hill 1886). The venue has superb acoustic and will feature outstanding performers, both international and local, with a diverse organ repertoire.
The first concert of the series will be presented by the extraordinary organist from Denmark – Merethe Lammert Køhl Hansen. The recital features music by JS Bach, Buxtehude, Gade, Lorentzen and will also include one of the most famous works in the organ repertoire – Adagio by Albinoni/Giazotto.
