Six World Premieres In Echoes of the Garden Palace
Hear works from five composition students from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in a free public performance in Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens.
As part of a collaboration with Kaldor Public Art Projects and Sydney-based Wiradjuri/Kamilaroi artist Jonathan Jones, the composition students have created sonic responses to Jones’s vast sculpture barrangal dyara (skin and bones), that recalls Sydney’s Garden Palace for the 200th birthday celebrations of the Royal Botanic Gardens.
There are six world premieres interspersed with short arrangements from Paulo Giorza’s Cantata composed for the opening ceremony of the Sydney International Exhibition in 1878.
