‘A change of seasons’ farewells TRIOZ

There is one more chance to enjoy the chemistry of  TRIOZ when they present their final concert A Change of Seasons.

Pianist, founder and Artistic Director of TRIOZ Kathy Selby along with violinist Niki Vasilakis and cellist Emma-Jane Murphy will convene one last time to perform three works:

W A Mozart Piano Trio in D minor, K.442

Astor Piazzolla Las Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas (Four Seasons)

Antonin Dvorák Piano Trio No.3 in F minor, B.130 (Op.65)

Mozart’s Piano Trio in D minor, K 442 is one of his unfinished works, and is said to have been completed by Abbe Maximilian Stadler (1748 – 1833), an Austrian Benedictine monk, pianist and musicologist, who closed what there was of Mozart’s estate and who also managed the Imperial Music Archive. The completed trio was first published in 1797.

Astor Piazzolla has single handedly brought the exciting rhythms and dance forms of Latin America to the classical arena. His Las Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas (Four Seasons). Unlike the earlier great chamber work of the same name, Piazzolla’ four seasons are represented by a single movement, not by a concerto. The pull and sway of the tango infuses the entire work creating a heady mix that is hard to resist.

Finally, Dvorak’s Piano Trio No 3 in F minor, an epic work composed in 1883, and suitable finale that showcases both the individual and collective artistry of TRIOZ.

Niki Vasilakis and Emma-Jane Murphy will go their own ways whilst Kathy Selby will present a whole new series of concerts in 2012 under the banner of Selby and Friends.
