A Festival of Music, Art, Food, Wine And VIVID For Sydney Youth Orchestras
Sydney Youth Orchestras present Live at Level 28, a one night overlooking VIVID Sydney from the 28th floor of the Deutsche Bank Building.
Guests will have access to the exquisite Allens’ private contemporary Australian art collection, paired with music from some of Sydney’s finest young musicians, curated by Umberto Clerici, Principal Cello of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Food and wine gathered from across NSW will tantalise the taste buds in this relaxed classical music lounge. All funds raised will support the Sydney Youth Orchestras Opportunity Fund which ensures SYO programs are accessible for all young people regardless of financial situation or geographic location.
The night will showcase a rarely seen, private, contemporary Australian art collection which includes works from iconic Australian artists including Joe Wilson, Gloria Tamerre Pettyare, Michael Nicholls, Noel McKenna, Peter Maloney, Chris Langlois, George Johnson, Helen Eager, Lottie Consalvo, Robert Ambrose Cole and David Bromley. Guests can learn more about the artworks on the evening from curator Maria Poulos.
Music for the evening will be performed by senior members of The Sydney Youth Orchestra and will range from classical favourites such as selections from Greig’s Holberg Suite, to more avant garde selections including Sollima’s Hell 1. Clerici has programmed music to make the most of the spaces at Allens and to respond to several key artworks from the Allens’ collection.
Sydney Youth Orchestras is the leading orchestral training and education provider in New South Wales and was founded as a single orchestra in 1973 by the visionary music educator and conductor, Peter Seymour. Over 45 years it has grown to become a community of over 500 young musicians, aged 6-24, from all over Sydney and beyond. They gather weekly for rehearsals in the city and now in Western Sydney, in twelve different ensembles carefully constructed to match skill, age and experience.
