Puccini’s heartbreaking love story is to be staged in Balmain’s own Cafe Momus- “Casual Mondays.” Dress bohemian style or just stroll in, relax, and experience the amazing voices of this top young cast performing the world’s most beloved opera.

This is opera as theatre – intimate and intense! Performed in Italian and staged with an edited chamber score, lasting just under two hours with interval.

Produced by Victoria Watson and Ayse Goknur Shanal and directed by Victoria Watson, music direction and piano accompaniment are by Chris Cartner with design by Emily Stuart-Jones.

The role of Mimi will be sung by soprano Ayse Goknur Shanal, whose credits include winning the Australian Singing Competition, the Dame Joan Sutherland Scholarship and Award,the  Opera Foundation’s Metropolitan Opera Award (New York), and the McDonald’s Operatic Aria Award. She is joined by Natalie Christie Peluso as Musetta, Daniel Tambasco as Rodolfo, Rory Struthers as Marcello, Sepehr Irandoost as Colline and Christopher Nazarian as Alcindoro.
