Be transported to the city of dreams

According to the lyrics of Rudolf Sieczynski, Vienna was the city of his dreams with “laughter and music and stars that shine”.

The Australian Chamber Orchestra takes you to Vienna with its Viennese Serenade programme selected and directed by Viennese violin virtuoso Benjamin Schmid.

Schmid’s career has been breathtaking. Playing his 1731 Stradivarius violin, Schmid has performed with the Vienna Philharmonic, the Concertgebouw, and the St Petersburg Philharmonic with conductors of the ilk of Valery Giergiev, Christoph von Dohnanyi, David Zinman and Seiji Ozawa. Schmid’s repertoire encompasses the traditional works, but he is also an adept jazz improvisor. He holds a professorship at the Salzburg Mozarteum, has an extensive discography and international tour and teaching schedule.
