Applications are now open for Ensemble Offspring’s 2017 Hatched Academy, an intensive music program aimed at providing practical experience to emerging innovative young Australian performers and composers.

Ensemble Offspring is looking for composers and performers under 30 with a passion for the ‘sonic weird and wonderful’. Designed to provide practical experience, the Academy will equip artists with the diverse skill sets needed to become successful artistic and cultural leaders.

Four successful applicants – two composers and two performers – will participate in two week-long sessions in Sydney. In 2017 for the very first time the week-long Sydney September session will be open to extra participants (especially vocalists), with this aspect of the program launching at a later date.

The Hatched Academy draws on the skills and expertise of Ensemble Offspring’s Artistic Director, Claire Edwardes, its core instrumentalists, its 2017 special guest international composer, Cathy Milliken, and soprano Jessica Aszodi.

Applications close at midnight on Friday November 11, 2016.
