Happy 80th Sydney Symphony!

The Sydney Symphony Orchestra celebrates its 80th birthday and the opening of its 2012 in style with performances across the weekend.

The orchestra, conducted by Vladimir Ashkenazy and led by Dene Olding perform R Strauss’ introspective Metamorphosen redeemed by the wild exuberance of Beethoven’s Symphony No 9. Here’s what SMH reviewer Peter McCallum had to say about it. The performances continue Saturday 11th and Monday 13th February at the Sydney Opera House. Be quick if you want tickets.
